Although Darwins Evolution Theory has been accepted among the academia unanimously, some related problems are still in heated discussion, among which the most typical one might be the arguments between two modern evolutionist——Richard Dawkins and Stephen Jay Gould. This paper focuses on and unfolds their arguments. After reading immense original works, the author gives a brief introduction of their theories and chief points of each, basing on abundant reference related. And then the author tells the differences between the two evolution theories of Dawkins and Gould.Whats more, the author sets forth the divergence of both sides, from "the aspects of functional levels of natural selection","the comprehension of contingency and inevitability", "the progressiveness of evolution", "the rate of evolution——gradualism and punctuated equilibrium", and "the viewpoint of religion".During the process the author tries to make clear the reasons and the influences of their arguments and makes her unique comments.
