About Stephen Daldry analysis of the characteristics of the film narrative,mainly around the narrative theme,narrative structure,narrative technique three aspects.Stephen Daldry is British film director,as well as outstanding theatre director.He won several film and drama awards,winning two areas of professional recognition.So far,he has directed fives movies,including Billy Elliot,The Hour,The Reader,Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Trash.In the selection of movie theme,Stephen Daldry mainly focused on the nobody in major events.Among these five movies,there are four movies that are adapted from novels,in which the theme of the novels are merged together with the reflection of the social problems nowadays.In structure,the nonlinear narrative structure shows Stephen’s montage conception on spatio-temporal processing.At the same time,he is good at using metaphor and implicit symbolism.The uniqueness of Stephen on the film narrative is highlighted his with modern consciousness of feminism thought and humanistic thought.All of these can offer theoretical value and practical significance for related research and reference in the film industry today.
