| Since the 1980s, translation studies witnessed the great wave of "culture turn" in which feminist translation has become prominent among various new types of translation theory due to its special political appeal of feminism and such theory from the perspective of gender has given vitality to translation studies. Nevertheless, domestic study on feminist translation only stays at the initial stage of introduction with few academic works elaborating on female translators and a great many female translators remaining "lost" in the long history.One of the most important factors that affect feminist translation is female consciousness which has a great impact on each translating procedure including choice of text, understanding of original text as well as selection of translation strategies. Female consciousness in Western nations is rather radical while that in China is moderate due to differences in culture and history. However, it cannot be denied that gender consciousness is shown in their translation practiceThe thesis analyses the two rendered versions of Wilde's plays published in l.a Jcuncssc from the perspective of feminism and comparisons are made between Xue Qiying's version of An Ideal Husband and othct versions translated by male translators, between Shen Xingren's version of Lady Windermere's Fan and other male-rendered versions. Through comparison, it can be said that those two female-rendered versions reveal female awareness in terms of such four aspects as choice of text, building of female images, marriage view as well as pursuit of equality between male and female in law. However, when compared with Western feminist translation practices, the two versions show their female awareness mainly out of subconsciousness or unconsciousness. Nevertheless, the emergence of female awareness provides a new perspective for the study on Chinese translation theories and we should push the research on translation from the gender angle based on Chinese history and current demands.
