As one of the most enthusiastically represented themes of ancient novels, emperor stories, especially ones between dynasties of Han and Tang are always favored by novelist. Emperor Wu. an influntial emperor in ancient China and hero of earlier novel series, was provided with a vivid and rich deduction under a fictitious narrative system. During the Han, Wei and Six dynasties, the coming of "literature consciousness" achieved a prosperity of novel creation. After having undergone a process from unconsciousness to consciousness, novel creation brought out a collection of far-reaching works, including ones compiled about Emperor Wu.Despite the fact that scholars from a narrative perspective have paid close attention to some story-systems, more deep research and analysis remain to be done. Therefore, for the purpose of immediateness and accessibility of narrative model and traits, this paper refered to western narrative theroies. performs a systematically analysis on representative selections from seventy novels of Emperor of Wu, thereby repersenting art styles. Based on western narrative theroies, perspective to narrative novel series of Emperor Wu is of great significance to narrative study.In the introduction, the author lays the theoretical foundation for the research of narrative novel series through making a brief introduction to relevant concepts,the research object, achievements and research methods, and then draws the growth point of this paper.In Chapter One,the author analyzes the three main narrative models, namely, stories of Ghosts and Gods, varvels and trivialities, and makes a specifical distinction between them in detail.The Second Chapter is to analyze narrative traits and unique connotation in three aspects of narrator, narrative perspective and narration time.In Chapter Three, great emphasis is laid on literary styles of narrative novel series of Emperor Wu. The author illuminates the authenticity of varvels by narrating repeatedly and objectively, stresses record in terms of narrative means and reveals subjectivity with the entrance of philosophy of life and values to novel narration. In the conclusion, the paper, which is centred on the main thread of viewing fantasy as beauty, brings to light the fact that the exsistence of fictitious elements contributes to fictionality of narrative novel series of Emperor Wu.
