Traditionally, the literature is generally in an agreement that certain stressors can elicit responses in individuals that can have adverse impacts on their health over time. The positive response to stressors and the associated health benefits of these responses had received little attention though the good stress was found by Hans Selye since 1976 which was termed eustress. In this study, eustress refers to a positive psychological response to a stressor,as indicated by the presence of positive psychological states while distress refers to a negative psychological response to a stressor,as indicated by the presence of negative psychological states. The research disscussed the structure of eustress for employees in China. Specifically, based on the literature review,we collected scale items by interview and questionnaires, which formed an initial scale. After collecting data using the scale, a four-dimensions structure of eustress was found by exploratory factor analysis. The structure of eustress was retested by confirmative factor analysis that represented a good fit to data. In addition,we discussed the relationship among stressors, congnitive appraisal and the factors of eustress. At last, the influence of demograhics and histological variables was tested in the four factors. The results show that:(1)Eustress for employees is structured of four dimensions:goal perception, positive affect, manageability, work involvement.(2) Work stressors and cognitive appraisal have an influence on eustress.(3) Cognitive appraisal was proved as moderator and mediator in relation of work stressor and eustress.(4)There are significant differences on various dimensions of eustress in diffirent sex, age, academic levels, length of service, position and different company types.
