In the era of volatility,uncertainty,complexity,and ambiguity(VUCA),the worldwide urgent emergency has threatened not only the human life and health,but also the progress of social economy.With the tremendous challenges from the environment,some enterprises suffered from lockdowns,and even bankruptcy,while the stable supply and marketing resources,mature enterprise system,and fixed job responsibilities of staff in the past have become unpredictable.The working pressure on the staff has increased fiercely with the significant growth of the burden for enterprises to survive.According to research,companies and employees will be under more negative pressure in the VUCA era,which are called hindrance stressors in this study.However,hindrance stressors have hindered employees’ work,impeded their objectivity to learn and innovate,and prevented employees from gaining a sense of work prosperity,which would negatively impact the performance and development of corporation,entering a vicious circle.To explore these issues,this study used the resource conservation theory and investigated several enterprises in Qingdao using the Thriving at work Scale,the Hindering Stress Scale,the Psychological Resilience Scale,and the Employee relation climate Scale.The study involved 80 organizations and 1,200 employees.After screening and eliminating invalid questionnaires,valid data from 76 teams and 1,054 subordinate employees were obtained.The analysis of the collected data led to the following conclusions:(1)hindrance stressors have a significant negative impact on thriving at work;(2)employees’ psychological resilience plays a mediating role between hindrance stressors and thriving at work;(3)the employment relation climate plays a moderating role between hindrance stressors and employees’ psychological resilience;and(4)the employment relation climate plays a moderating role between employees’ psychological resilience and thriving at workBusiness leaders should pay attention to the identification of hindrance stressors in the daily management and operation of the company,reducing the impact of obstructive stressors on employees’ psychological resilience by providing a high employee relation climate,and improving employees’ psychological resilience.Resilience can be used to promote the sense of prosperity at work,thereby effectively promoting the prosperity and development of the enterprise. |
