Carson McCullers(1917-1967) is a significant American writer of the south in American literature history of the 20th century. With application of closed reading method, this paper discusses the feature of painting, music and space structure in the Carson McCullers's novels which has been translated into Chinese, and analyzes the cycle of loneliness in the space. This paper contains five chapters. Chapter one summarizes the academic studies of Carson McCullers home and abroad and suggests the feasibility of upgrading art technique to the study of topics. Chapter two associates the text with the creative talent of author, analyzing the use of color, line and light by taking the "painting" as the core. Revealing that the loneliness was the real meaning expressed by the panting. Referring to the musical life of the author, chapter three analyzes the musical image, form and effect, revealing that the music is the unique form to express loneliness. Based on the background life of the author, chapter four analyzes the cobweb-like space structure which is designed by the author deliberately and suggests that the cycle of loneliness is the result of the double suppression—the depression of space and the spiritual isolation. The last part is concluding remarks of the paper, making a summary of the author's creation experience and the paper's complete thread of thought.
