Because the current gloss modes on new words in intermediate TCFL textbooks are too simplex and can not bring out ideal explanation, this thesis puts forward to construct multiple Gloss Modes in order to improve the compilation of Intermediate TCFL Textbooks as well as to help the second language learners learn new words more efficiently.Firstly, the thesis briefly introduces the current study of Gloss Modes on New Words in Intermediate TCFL Textbooks and explicates the object of this thesis, the theories and methodologies of this thesis as well as the significance of this thesis.Secondly, this thesis analyzes the current study of Gloss Modes on New Words in Intermediate TCFL Textbooks very explicitly and points out the existing problems as well as some causes of these problems.Thirdly, this thesis proposes the principle of Gloss Modes on New Words and tries to construct multiple Gloss Modes.Finally, this thesis carries on a practical research of the multiple Gloss Modes, examining the application of this new Gloss mode in the second level vocabulary in Chinese Glossary of International Education with a grade and Intermediate TCFL Textbooks.With dynamic and static investigation, this thesis comes up a conclusion that the multiple gloss modes are quite applicable.
