| Foreign Language exercise research is still in a late start, while its development is relatively slow. Previous studies concentrated in the more macro level, while the studies on exercise of specific language grammars are rare. In this paper, we intend to study the exercises of Complement of State in the six textbooks including both elementary and intermediate levels for Chinese learners. We attempt to understand the distribution and characteristics of the exercises in the six books. What is more, we intend to explore the problems of the exercises and find the reasons which lead to the problems. We also make MC exercises and communication practices of complement of state.The research is based on the language testing theories, in particular, a theory of measure of test validity, combined with the theoretical results of previous research in TCFL field. We discuss about the study and evaluation standard of textbook exercises, the standard mainly includes three aspects:contents, forms and the use of validity.We research on the Complement of State through three parts:the contents, forms and use of validity. In this section, we make a comparative analysis of complement of state of exercises in the six books in the distribution, selection, preparation and other aspects of similarities and differences. In the use of validation studies, we take a survey and individual interviews with a combination of research methods, by groups and individuals, to understand the degree of adaptation for different learners.On the basis of comprehensive theoretical and practical study, we focus on finding out problems of the exercises, and also make modals of MC exercises and communication practices for Complement of State.In this paper, we hope to solve two main issues:from the perspective of practice, study how to improve the teaching effect of complement of state; from the perspective of complement of state, research the language exercises in the textbooks.
