You-yang-za-zu is a memorandum novel which written by Duan Chengshi in the late Tang Dynasty. It has been studied by lots of classic or scholium literatures, for the reason of including abundant new vocabularies, such as new words or new meaning of old words. Especially the dictionaries of philology prefer to cite vocabularies from this book, for example, The Grand Chinese Dictionary at least cites one thousand sentences, more than six hundreds of which appeared for the first time.This dissertation consists of four parts:Chapter one briefly introduces the vitae of the writer, the background of the books, the studying status in quo, the method and structure of the dissertation. According to the syllable, character, structure and the origin of the words, Chapter two compares six hundred and eighty vocabularies in The Grand Chinese Dictionary to which in You-yang-za-zu. Chapter three makes up the vocabularies which The Grand Chinese Dictionary missed or misused, in addition, the dissertation tries to analyze these words. Chapter four assorts and explains the mistakes that The Grand Chinese Dictionary cites You-yang-za-zu by error.
