Scholars in Qing Dynasty generally focused their research on Xiaoxue and gradually found the differences between the lection quoted in Shuowen Jiezi and the characters used in today’s lection.As a result,numerous works on sutras cited from Shuowen Jiezi have emerged.The textual research of Shuowen citations was written by Chen Zhuan in Qing Dynasty.It is a special book on different sutras cited by Shuo Wen.This paper,based on Chen Zhuan’s interpretation of the different words,deeply analyzes the reasons for the formation of the different words and the mistakes in quoting the sutras in the textual research of Shuowen citations,gradually excavates the academic value of the book and determines the academic status of Chen Zhuan.This paper is mainly divided into the following parts:The introduction introduces the background and author’s life,as well as the current research status,research significance and research methods.Chapter one mainly introduces the style of textual research of Shuowen citations,including the rules of arrangement and explanation,which specifically explains some special cases of explanation.Chapter two and Chapter three are the main content of this paper,including revealing the relationship between different words and pointing out the mistakes of quoting sutras in Shuowen Jiezi.The relationship between different words is marked by Chen Zhuan’s annotations,which can be divided into five categories: interchangeable characters,phonetic loan characters,variant characters,characters in popular form and ancient and modern characters.The errors in quoting sutras in Shuowen Jiezi include the errors in Xu Shen’s writing and quoting and the errors in the spreading of sutras.Chapter four focuses on the achievements and limitations of textual research of Shuowen citations.His achievements include extensively quoting documents,explaining the rules of Shuowen Jiezi and identifying the sources of sutras.The limitations include the vague concept of "phonetic loan characters",some errors in interpretation and careless usage of words. |
