In Germany's history, there were signs of nationalism everywhere. However, since the Medieval ages, the signs of political loose, economic weakness in German was becoming more and more apparent, such a country almost lost himself, imitated blindly and praised highly of French culture, which had influenced the development of Germany. Lagging behind leaved one vulnerable to be attacked. Bullied as a neighbor and an old enemy of France, Germany will inevitably be destroyed. Living in a special historical period, Fichte suddenly broke into the nationalist sentiment, he derived the thought essence from Kant, Rousseau and Herder, faced various social drawbacks in German, starting from spirit, and tried to explain national spirit lied hidden in the Germany tradition, history and language, to awake the national consciousness and his fellows' patriotic fervor. As a philosopher, Fichte tried to seek the unity of philosophy all his life, to achieve the goal of establishing a rational kingdom; as a patriot, he lavished praise on the French Revolution from the perspective of freedom and reason, and tried to arise the people's consciousness of achieving national reunification. During Berlin was occupied by Napoleon, Fichte published "Addresses to the German Nation", and demanded to rush to the front over and over again. Until the end, he still worried about the national liberation. His action aroused the people's sense of nationalism, at the same time, it was also quoted as an evidence of romantic nationalism. Fichte's speech and action were undoubtedly the most important spiritual food for the people of that era, it played a role of waking up national consciousness and resistance to foreign invasion. Although Fichte also discriminated against Jews and the Polish nation, indicated the German nation was superior to the other nations, which aroused much controversy afterwards. However, we should place greater value on Fichte's nationalist ideology, which played an important role on Germany's revival.
