Comparison Of Negative Adverbs "Bu/Mei" And "Khong/Chu'a" In Chinese And Vietnamese

Negative adverbs "Bu, Mei"are common and important adverbs in Chinese. Their meaning and usage are corresponding with negative adverbs "khong, chua" in Vietnamese language. But they are two different languages. Although they have lots of common in semantic and syntactic functions, their differences also exist in these areas. That the reason why the Vietnamese students always making mistakes when they try to use "Bu, Mei", because they are confused with both negatives adverbs in Chinese and Vietnamese languages. The main reason of the errors is generated by the impact of mother tongue, followed by poor master in the negative adverbs"Bu, Mei".Inspired by this problem, we compared the adverbs "Bu, Mei"in Chinese with "khong, chua" in Vietnamese language. Firstly, we compared and found out their similarities and differences in semantic, grammar and usage. Then through questionnaires, we found out how well the Vietnamese students master the negative adverbs"Bu, Mei", and the situation that caused them to make mistakes easily when they learnt the adverbs"Bu, Mei". Finally, we analyzed the reason that caused the errors occurred. This paper aims to understand better the similarities and differences of the negative adverbs in both languages, at the same time help the Vietnamese students to master better the grammatical function features of Chinese language.
