Theory And Practice Of Metafiction

Metafiction is "fiction about fiction". It is a new type of literature springed out in the 1960s with the stream of post-modernism. Chinese metafiction began in 1980s by pioneer writers and soon got extensive focus. However, the Chinese metafiction has not been deeply and systemetically studied.Based on the collection and study of Chinese and western metafiction, the technical expressions of metafiction are summarised. Given that the metaficion is a sub-group of post-modernism fiction, we compared it with traditional realistic literature, mordern literature and post-modernism literature, to find its basic features and strategies. We illustrated the mental core of why a metafiction can be a metafiction, and explored its theory origination. Further more, we discussed the course of localization and the future of Chinese metafiction.
