Review For Northwest Prevention Office Of Epizootics Of Agriculture And Forestry Department (1941-1949)

Northwest region is an important livestock-producing areas of China since ancient times, and is frequent epizootic areas. In the period of the Republic of China, the national government combined the epizootic prevention institutions of the MengSui and Northwest areas in 1941 in order to develop the livestock resources in the northwest, and re-established a professional epizootic prevention institutions which under the agriculture and forestry department, named Northwest Prevention Office of Epizootics. The paper analysis pertinent data about Northwest Prevention Office of Epizootics in Gansu Archives, systematically introduces the condition about its established background, agency history, staffing, use of funds, ideas for prevention and training and so on, and shows the contribution for northwest animal prevention undertaking, finally, analysis the constraints for its further development.
