Today, while human is enjoying the material life, the ecological problem has been a paradox of survival people has to face, so it is extremely important for modern people to review the relationship between man and nature. James O'Connor, American ecological Marxist leader in the end of the last century, his thoughts were forming under that period which was new time and had lots of new contradictions. His theories have epoch-making and ecological ethics characteristics, which still are more inspiring for modern people to deal with the relationship between man and nature, to process the construction of socialist harmonious society and to establish the sustainable development of ecological civilization. For above reasons, it is not waste time to study and discuss his theories.In O'Connor ecological in Marxist theory, although, there is not clear or specific expression on the relationship between man and nature, the abundant and profound ecological ethics concepts have already in his philosophy thought. As above reasons, this report is based on O'Connor book Natural Causes Essays in Ecological Marxism, to reveal the theoretical, the realistic foundation and motivation of forming of O'Connor ecological idea, to clarify the content and features of O'Connor's theory on the relationship between man and nature. In theoretical, it will provide help for people on enriching and developing the study of O'Connor's Ecological Marxism on ecological ethic perspective, which is better to reflect the inherent value and significance of O'Connor's thought of the relationship between people and nature for modern people. In practical level, O'Connor's thought on the relationship between human and nature, provides the philosophical basis and practical way for modern people on knowing the nature laws, solving today ecological environment problems and realizing the sustainable development of ecological civilization.This paper is divided into five parts. In the first part, the author briefly analyzes the thought of "relation between human and nature" in ecological ethics theory, and makes a in-depth discuss and a brief commentary on main forms and performances of that thought from three aspects, the concept, historical process and the existing inevitable ethics relations. The second part, the author briefly describes some basic questions, like the theoretical, the realistic foundation and motivation of forming of O'Connor's thought on the relationship between human and nature, and preliminary outlines the frame of that thought in O'Connor ecological Marxist theory. The third part, the author details the main content of O'Connor's thought on the relationship between human and nature and fully discusses the key content of that thought. Lay a foundation for the expand belt of theory. In the fourth part, the author summarizes modern theoretical significance and practical significance gave by O'Connor's thought on the relation between man and nature, and points out his theory's internal limitations. In the fifth part, In the end the author expresses the reality enlightenment from his theory, which includes cultivation ecological civilization consciousness, establish ecological moral standards, promoting the ecological education model, planning resource-saving and environment-friendly ecological development strategy, and realizing the ecological production, living and consumption model. The reality enlightenment will provide powerful guarantee to realize the sustainable development of practical construction of ecological civilization.
