In this paper,chinese traditional painting and western modern design were scrutinied in the epistemological point of view on containing aesthetic awareness,to explore and excavate the common aesthetic taste.The paper introduces the development process of design geometry firstly.Design geometry dates back to ancient Greece,as the source of Greek aesthetics----school of oythagoras, one of the three schools,considering that "number" is the origin of all things. School of oythagoras proposes aesthetic of "number", They think that the bodies'proportion, weight, distance and speed of rotation exists a certain ratio among each other,the ratio achieves a harmonious beauty because of its unique order. This paper describes that the design geometry has an important value for modern design,a large number of professional posters and part of the building, the product were selected as an example in the second part,to analyse vision principle of geometric composition in details,the principle discusses the golden section, fibonacci series, the square root of the number of columns and several rectangular patterns.The development of design geometry allows the viewer a better understanding of designers,and it is also the basis of making more perfect and exquisite design by the designer. Design geometry reveals a variety of visual regularity,in chapter three of this paper, it proposes that analysing chinese painting with visual geometry (visual rules),chinese painting pay attention to the change of host and guest-oriented,echo, opening and closing, virtual and the actual situation,sparse and thick, complex and simple and so on,chinese painting is based on the theory of yin and yang, pay attention to the various elements of allelopathy, complementary law of motion.In the picture: balance changes,unity in diversity; rhythm, patchwork; overall contact,ratio coordination,these are also the different expression of visual geometry.The anthor uses visual methods of geometrical to analyse a large number of excellent works of chinese painting,we can make sense of appreciation of a work, not only be impressed by its exquisite technology, but also be touched by the ratio of inner beauty and the rhythm in the screen. In the forth part of this paper,through the comparision and contrast of chinese painting and design examples,to make efforts to ascertain the commonality of eastern and western aesthetic.In this paper,through the comparision and contrast of chinese painting and design examples,to find that eastern and western art are similar, though they use different carriers, different means of expression,they contains the same visual laws,which have a great help for the future of our art,and the visual laws originate from the visual habits and nature, this is common aesthetic category without national boundaries.
