This thesis chooses the Ancient ages to the Middle ages'ancient Chinese literatures to establish a closed corpus of ancient Chinese, which have strong colloquial characters and takes the main verbs in dengzhi verb group as research object. These members are deng,zhi,cheng,sheng,shang,ji,nie. From the synchronic angle, we intend to observe the dispersion of each member and discuss the diachronic evolvement of this kind of words from diachronic angle, trying to find out the relations among each member and make some explanations.This thesis is divided into six parts.Part one is introduction. This part mainly explains the reasons for choosing this subject and summarizes research status of dengzhi verb group, meanwhile, proposes the research aim, the purport, and the research method, etc.From part two to part four, we divided the Ancient ages to the Middle ages into three periods, making synchronic description about the dispersion of each member, frequency of utilization and collocation situation in Pre-Qin Dynasty, the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties and Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties.Part five deals with diachronic change and evolution characteristics of dengzhi verb group. Besides, we make comparisons of usage in terms of dengzhi verb group in each period in order to observe their evolution characteristics.Part six is conclusion in which system properties of dengzhi verb group are summed up, and further thoughts and problems are put forward.
