Ancient confucian value sacrifice, because they were worship gods. This paper trys to reture to Confucianism classics and historical facts to make clear the meaning of excessive sacrifice. Excessive sacrifice is the type of sacrifice which is against Confucianism sacrifice principles, not recognized by register of sacrifices, and contrarys to regular sacrifice. It mainly consists of sacrifices which are abandoned, outside register of sacrifices, and within register of sacrifices but against Confucianism sacrifice principles. Excessive sacrifice is no return, because gods will not accept their sacrificial offerings. This can get demonstration from two aspects that are logical deduction and"qi"category. Confucius once tried hard renew the Zhou dynasty's etiquette, so he was opposed to excessive sacrifice. Excessive sacrifice has unbelievable features that are reflected in their origin, temples, statues, and so on. Through studying excessive sacrifice's relation to wizards, folk beliefs, cults, Buddhism, Taoism, we can better understand the meaning of excessive sacrifice. Analysing the hazards of excessive sacrifice to Confucianism state from religious, economic, political, social aspects, and Confucianism state deal with the problem from bringing into register of sacrifices, attack, transformation, replacing, reality solution. This is the issue why Confucianism state is against excessive sacrifice and how to solve it. At last, we can get a conclusion like this, Confucianism state's managing excessive sacrifice is refers to not only national governance, but also religion complex.
