The research of double-object structure highly attracts linguists'attention. Previous studies emphasized on the giving and offering type as well as its related verbs. This paper focuses on the sentences which are identical with the giving double-object structure in syntax but apparently different in semantic level. With a thorough analysis from the static state and dynamic state, new and profound discovering is expected to have. The paper is devided into six chapters.Chapter one is the preface of the paper. It introduces the purpose and significance of the paper, also concludes a comprehensive analysis which is related to this thesis.Chapter two is aim to define and clarify the non-typical double-object sentence. According to construction grammar theory, we define the typical as well as the non-typical double-object sentence. According to the mutual relationship between the verb and the construction, we clarify the members within the non-typical double-object sentence. Besides, we also clarify the non-typical double-object sentence into the simple one and the complex one from the logical meaning level.Chapter three we studies on the syntax and semantic types of the structure. Analyze the semantic role restricts to the three arguments, then we also conclude the restrictions for the complex members of the non-typical double-object sentence.Chapter four we make a thorough investigation of the causes and explain with cognitive linguistics theory and relevant theories in logics. Besides, we apply construction grammar theory to analyze the conditions as well as the mechanism of constructing the double-object sentence.Chapter five we investigate the continuum of the structure. We apply the prototype theory to construct a continuum in the system of double-object sentence which shows that the'giving'character is gradually unapparent from typical sentence to non-typical ones. Besides, we also construct a continuum between the double-object sentence and the sentence which possesses the causative feature.Chapter six is the conclusion. We summarize our viewpoints, explain the value and the innovation of this thesis. Still there are some problems unsolved. We hope we can go deeper with this research later.
