With the new reformation propelled again and again, the whole educational field changes in all aspects, such as schooling concept, school-running system, course structure and teaching method, etc. As one of the teaching steps,assignment is one of the important parts to undertake classroom teaching. Its evaluation quality directly affects the teaching feedback. But in comparison, it changes slowly and the dynamics are small. Furthermore, the proportion of the researches on assignment strategies is relatively low among all the researches on learning and teaching strategies.Based on literature review of the assignment study, the author finds that the assignment researches in basic education accounts for a larger proportion but the assignment researches in universities, especially for the certain majors and subjects, account for less.This essay researches on the assignment of the comprehensive English course in normal universities. Firstly, from the progress of the times and the development of education, to the inherent requirement of normal universities, the paper expounds the necessity of the study. Secondly, it has also borrowed ideas from the relevant theories about philosophy, pedagogy and psychology. Finally, through questionnaire survey, the author has got knowledge of the current assignment situation of comprehensive English course in normal universities, and adopted SPSS to analyze data.From random students samples of four universities, the study finds that the usual assignment form of the comprehensive English course in normal universities is monotonous. The assignments section rarely involves junction between subjects. Teachers set assignment in writing form primarily, such as exercises in textbook.At last, the study combines certain questions from the questionnaire survey with"absence of analytical thinking"problems which currently exist in foreign language majors. The author puts forward some assignment suggestion for comprehensive English course in normal universities, which is based on the students'subjective attitude and the theories of philosophy, pedagogy and psychology. 1. Assignment in the eyes of Combination: The key is to solve problems by using knowledge horizontally and vertically.2. Assignment in the eyes of Teacher-student Cooperation: It makes the students not only solve problems with teacher's wisdom in homework, but cultivate the literacy to cooperate with teachers. That is the new-type teacher-student relationship.3. Assignment in the eyes of Philosophical Consideration: Its purpose is to enlighten students'thinking and to train student's speculation through assignment.After discussion on layout and design of assignment, this study uses integration ideas, which are"who"uses"what tool"with"what standard"to evaluate. Meanwhile, it analyzes the importance of evaluation by multiple paths, evaluation by multiple intelligences and evaluation by multiple agents. In addition to layout, design and evaluation, assignment management is also very important. This study combined advantages of internet and the characteristics of higher education. It plans to build an electronic interactive platform for assignment management. Meanwhile, an "Assignment Bank" module is listed in the electronic management system. It is not only a flexible management of the assignment in terms of registration, classification and preservation, but also will supply the resources of corpus for the university research.
