Contradiction Of Benjamin In Modernity Criticis

In this paper contradiction of Benjamin during the course of critique in modernism is elaborated in detail, based on the analysis of ideas and objects of Baudelaire and urban landscape of Paris. The book whose title is"A Lyric Poet in the Era of High Capitalism"is taken as a blueprint. In this book Benjamin sets the scene in Paris in the middle of the 19th century which is the capital city by the work of a lyric poet named Baudelaire and displays the space images for Paris in the middle of the 19th century with his unique emotion, such as goods, arcades, peep, public, conspirators, loafers, and so on. And demonstrates and depicts the city of modernism and the dream world deeply and fully.Benjamin drops into the contradiction and confusion at the same time during researching and criticizing on the dream world. On the one hand Benjamin raises his arms and cheers for the progress of era that is marked by technique reproduction; on the other hand he yearns for the traditional value that is fast disappearing. On the one hand he is high on the fantasy of the world; on the other hand he spurs people to wake up from the fantasy. On the one hand he gazes into the desperate world with his melancholy eye; on the other hand he marches on towards his hopeful ideal unwaveringly. On the one hand he is desirous of the return of the lost past; on the other hand he makes his effort to rebuild on the ruins. It is along with the contradiction of the critique in modernism that is he searching the saving road for this era, this life and this society.The modern critical thought of Benjamin offers important enlightenments to reveal the contradictions and difficulties that Chinese is facing at this time in society and culture, to search for the methods to solve these issues, to achieve the health development of Chinese society and culture. The paper tried to do some help for seeing through the direction of Chinese culture history through researching the contradiction of critique in modernism of Benjamin.
