| The May 4th period was a climax of China's translation of works of foreign literary writers.Baudelaire also entered the vision of Chinese readers during this period.The revolutionary nature of Baudelaire's artistic conception and literary creation in keeping with the history and request of China's society.Therefore,Chinese translators and researchers proceed from their own needs and have conducted personal translations and research on Baudelaire.These translations and research results directly determine the ordinary readers' knowledge of Baudelaire.With the advancement of the Chinese social revolution,the founding of New China,and the continuous progress of reform and opening up,Baudelaire's translation and research have also undergone changes.The research status has moved away from the ambiguity in the early stage that focused too much on digging out Baudelaire's revolutionary characteristics and developed comprehensive and in-depth.This change has caused ordinary readers' fundamentally change to the perception of Baudelaire.It can be seen that Baudelaire's translators and professional researchers play a decisive role in the most critical aspects of the formation of the image in China.Therefore,this article takes the Baudelaire translator since May 4th period and professional researchers as the subjects of study,aiming to analyze how the Baudelaire's Chinese image in their eyes are constructed,and clarifying some fundamental issues in Baudelaire's image research in China.Through sorting out the results of the translators and researchers of Baudelaire since the May4 th Movement,it can be found that the researchers have devised four images for Baudelaire: the first one is The Devil Poet,the second is The Decadent Poet,the third is The Promoter of Aesthetic Modernity and the fourth is the Dandy.This article will take the key texts in the process of forming these Baudelaire's images as research content,and finally analysis the process of Baudelaire's four images in China. |
