This article talks about the research in Late Tang Dynasty court music and the inheritance of the court music from Tang to Liao. The five Dynasty in China is another upheavals period in Chinese history after the Wei and Jin dynasties as well as in the northern and southern Dynasties. For the Chinese traditional music in this period, because of the dramatic change in society, Medieval music and dancing musice represented by singing and dancing Daqu gradually declined, while the secular music represented by Chinese Opera music gradually arised. This is the transitional process in which two kinds of ancient Chinese music convert from one to another.Moribund Tang's music and dancing music once had a short recovery in the five Dynasty, which is so called"golden age"in the development of the court music in the Later Tang Dynasty. This"golden age"created the conditions for Liao Dynasty to carry on the music in Tang Dynasty. That is to say that, the five Dynasty is a undertake period bearing on Sui and Tang Dynasty, next rev. Jin and Yuan Dynasty.This paper is divided into five parts: The introduction part discusses the appearance of the court music in the five Dynasty and the general situation of the inheritance from Tang to Liao Dynasty. Reveals the significance of the five Dynasty in ancient Chinese music transition period, and the important historical affect in the lineage of Tang's court music. Chapter One"Overview of Court Music At the End of Tang Dynasty"reviews and depicts Tang's court music after Rebellion of An and Shi,the Huang Chao Uprising, meanwhile uncovers the influence for later generations of the court music in Tang Dynasty; Chapter Two"Court Music in the Five Dynasty"analyze the court music in the Five Dynasty based on court mucial movement and music type at that moment. Despite the the scale and quality of court music in the Five Dynasty can't compared to that in the Glorious age of Tang Dynasty, it still very gorgeous. In this chapter, the author also conclude the two meanings of court music in the Five Dynasty in Chinese music history; Chapter Three"Resurgence of Court Music in the Later Tang Dynasty"first textual criticizes it is because it occupies the advantage of"right place, right time, right people",so that the Later Tang Dynasty can preserve part of the court music in Tang Dynasty. The author also discusses the development of court music in the Later Tang Dynasty. Chapter Four"the Follow of the Musical Culture from Tang to Liao"studies the adoption of the musical culture from Liao to Tang Dynasty. It discussed the import role the Later Tang Dynasty and the Later Jin Dynasty (both in the Five Dynasty) played in the adoption of Tang's music according to the clues of the follow of the music from Tang to Liao. Through the discussion above, the configuration of Chinese ancient music transformed through the Five Dynasty; The Tang's music bloomed in Liao and Song Dynasty through the Five Dynasty.
