The proverb is the people's life crystallization, which reflects the human's wisdom and concludes the culture characteristic. So researching the different people's proverbs in the different culture means researching the different culture. During the contrast research, the mystery of two languages and the difference of the peoples'culture can be understood more deeply. Taking the proverbs as the windows of the culture, the Chinese culture will be understood and carried forward more completely.Chinese and English culture are contrasted from the angle of the traditional marriage concept. The different culture characheristics is reflected by the proverbs of marriage concept. On the aim of the marriage, Chinese people is for having sons,but the English people is for the result of the love. On the form of the marriage, in chinese, the parents will choose the couples for their children, matchmaker will go between the boys and girls, and a husband can marry with many concubines; in English, people have the right to choosing the couple, and they will abide by the rule of"only one couple". On the marriage relationships, there are many complicated human relationships between the wife and the husband, the mother-in-law and the sister-in-law,and the sisters-in-law; in English, the people will leave their parents and live with their wives, so the human relationship is very simple. At the same time ,there are a lot of culture characteristics on the choosing couple, the remarriage and the divorce. These marriage concepts are reflected by the culture of the Confucianism and the Christianity.All in all, a lot of Chinese and English proverbs reflect the marriage culture concepts and the culture mentality. Knowing the same and the different points in the marriage culture can help us to learn and exchange the Chinese and the English culture.
