Su Qing, a famous writer during the Occupation in the 20th century in Shanghai, hadbeen forgotten for a long time by modern literary due to historical reasons. Fromafter-liberation to the eighties, Su Qing has not been much concerned by researchers. However, at the same time of getting her achievements, there appeared some tendency of value over-esteem in her research., such as overstatingthe value of herself and her works intentionally, one-sided interpretation of the significanceof her creation, inaccurate assessments, and some other issues. This article tries Su Qing'stexts as the research object, with the combinations of the special historical background, social status and her attitude toward life and literature choices in the special period, itmakes a comprehensive evaluation of Su Qing, and revaluates her and her works. The first chapter elaborates the timeopportunity in Su Qing's public literature. The fall of Shanghai provided a particularopportunity for her literary achievements. It reflected the time's contingency from SuQing's literary achievements and her fame. Chapter II analyzes the limitations of Su Qing'screation from two aspects: poor spirit in her plain narrations, and her pragmatic andmaterialistic views of literary creation. Chapter III analyzes the contradictions of Su Qing'sthoughts from four aspects: the contradictions between women's traditional awarenessesand modern senses; "personal liberation" under the four-corner sky; the criticism anddependence on men; and contradictions of motherhood. Chapter IV investigates Su Qing'sconscious literary choice in the special period, her self-justifying with the excuse of weaksand abandoned wives, and her life attitude of dignity abandoning. The epilogue summarizes the significance and the value of Su Qing's creation, denying all her creations is not fair, but she can't be blindly exaggerated, also can't be madesimple political evaluations with the high-profile of politics, because the basic evaluationstandards and norms can't be ignored.
