This essay can be divided into three sections. The first part is introduction, which disscussed the research method, the current research situation and the purpose of choosing this subject. The second part is main body, which has five chapters. The first chapter expounds narrative sequence and narrative distance which have close relationship with narrative time. The Outlaws of the Marsh and Robinhood both use narration in time order and narration in supplement order. The Outlaws of the Marsh also contains plenty of narration interspersed with flashbacks and narration in advanced that relates with our religious tradition. Yet in Robinhood much narration in supplement order replace narration interspersed with flashbacks. The second chapter carries out the contrast in narrative structure and narrative perspective between the two works. From the angles of narrative perspective, the former contains a large number of figures and many clues. Under the influence of our novel traditon, the writer mainly uses all-knowing perspective. The latter has only one clue and the author lets the hero accomplish the narrative task, so it uses all-knowing perspective in limited degree. The third chapter is about narrative pattern and figure description. The Outlaws of the Marsh chiefly uses telling. Robinhood mainly uses showing. The fourth chapter elaborates the difference in narrative ethics. From the angle of narrative etics, the two works distinct a lot. Some of the brave man of Liangshan come from the wide world and they conducted a lot of behaviour which conflicts ethics and morality. The writer never criticized these behaviour that indicates the author goes beyond the moral bottom line. The author of Robinhood attches importance to moral problem that reflects the writer pays close attention to morals and ethics. The fifth chapter illuminates the reasons of the results in preceding part of the text. The two works originate different nations, so unequal cultural traditions make two novels present various aesthetic characteristics. The third part is conclusion.
