After the founding of People's Republic of China, emancipated revolutionaries who once fought with guns under the leadership of the Communist Party for the liberation of the country began to commit their memories of fervor to writing. The emergence of a large number of excellent revolutionary autobiographies in the 1950s not only confirmed the historical view of "Masses are the creator of history" and "Masses are the real heroes" but also exerted profound influence on the thinking of generations of people and inspired numerous young men with lofty ideals. The 60th anniversary of China's founding reminds people of the works Dedicating All to the Party and its creator Wu Yunduo. This autobiography has a circulation of more than 500 million and has been translated into many languages. It was even considered as a text book inspiring young people to pursue a goal with determination.Although autobiographies of revolutionary themes brought light and fame to the "Seventeen Years Literature", seldom can we found relevant academic researches. Therefore, the thesis aims to choose the most representative works at that time, that is, My Family and Dedicating All to the Party to carry out a case study. It will involve the procedures of first scrutinizing the texts and looking specifically at the value of such autobiographies from the perspective of historical facts, peculiarities, artistic qualities together with the analysis of the aesthetic Appreciations of biographies.Firstly, autobiography of revolutionary theme is created on the basis of the author's personal experience which provides readers with such real details of the history that people can truly experience the atmosphere of hardship of the war time. It has enriched the history of China and brought better understanding of the truth of history to the later generations.Secondly, both leading characters in the book——Tao Cheng and Wu Yunduo, went through the baptism of blood and fire, and respectively, changed from a traditional woman to a determined Bolshevik; and the other one——the ordinary miner gained the name of " China's Pavel Korchagin ". Despite the language of the narration was plain, it was sufficient to present the striking individualities of the two characters. Their stories had a universal appeal to the later readers, especially the qualities of tenacity and diligence are worthy of admiring and learning.Thirdly, viewing from the artistic features of the biography, biographies of revolutionary theme are very popular among the masses for its popularized conception, structure and language and its conformation with the then prevailing historic view that "Masses are the real heroes", thus facilitating the spreading process among a majority of workers , peasants and soldiers, especially the young readers. Therefore, its educational function can not be replaced and ignored.Autobiography of revolutionary themes captured the spirit of that era: the spirit of sacrificing life to fight against oppression and striving for independence and freedom with arduous struggles. At the time of celebrating the sixtieth birthday of our motherland, the act of reviewing the red classics as well as inheriting and carrying forward the revolutionary spirit of our ancestors is of great significance, which also servers as the theme of the thesis.
