This paper uses the Rongyu Tang edition of The Water Margin as the basis, combined with Li zhi, Jin Shengtan's comments, analyzes and summarizes the basic characteristics of the image of Li kui, to learn the source of characters of the charm with text reading method.Throughout the study, Li Kui in The Water Margin is a guy with loyalty, courage, filial piety but sometimes he is rude, cruel. Through deeply analysis of these features, this article has summed up the image of the charm of Li kui in two aspects: one is the core—the happy-based. This state of mind that contains ideas has something in common with the Li zhi's"childlike innocence". Two is the sublimation—tragedy. Li kui's death in the end corresponds with the idea of the tragedy of the modern sense in the china.
