Gearing Qin Art To Needs Of Current Audience

The art of Qin is one of the oldest in terms of plucked-string instruments in China. With thousands of years of evolution, the art of Qin has embodied exceptional connotations of artistry and humanity. During this course of history, generations of Qin artists, one after another, have devoted themselves to the refinement and perfection of this art. The charisma of Qin has been maintained and strengthened by its extraordinary aesthetic values. However, with the development of the society and the transformation of people's living styles, the art of Qin seems to stray away from people awareness. This is abnormal, for the reason of Qin's survival in today's world lies in its very vitality as well as its persistent spirit of humanity. Therefore, it is essential to, against today's background, identify the relations between the artistic merits of Qin and the needs of modern audience, explore the possibility of the connection between the two, promote the art of Qin and ultimately improve people's aesthetic abilities.With literature review, survey and analysis, and social practice, this paper is laid out in four aspects. Firstly, the goal, outline, methodology and significance of this research as well as the review of relevant literature are presented to provide this research a theoretical basis. Secondly,the artistic merits of Qin are associated with the lives and cultural needs of today's people. In this way, the significance of promoting Qin in society nowadays is manifested. Thirdly, a series of investigations and interviews covering the fields of creation, performance, teaching and communication are carried out to discover the status quo of the connection between Qin art and people's needs. Fourthly, with the basis of the preceding three aspects, the author elaborates on her reflection on the thesis from the connection between Qin and the current era, the role of arts managers, and the connection between Qin art and the needs of current audience.The author of this paper upholds the principle of protecting Qin art. This paper analyses the dynamic relation among protection, promotion and development. On the basis of preserving the artistic merits of Qin, the possibility of gearing Qin to current audience is explored. It is hoped that through this study, the vitality of Qin could be strengthened and Qin could become a living art in traditional Chinese music to nourish people's minds.
