The Folk Art Colors' Enlightenment As To Contemporary Chinese Figure Paintings

This paper includes 3 parts which will analyze the enlighten we get from the folk art colors'effects on Chinese figure painting. The 1st part focuses on the exploration and tendency of the color language of contemporary Chinese figure painting, from the point of the color-changing history of Chinese painting as well as its regular patterns in different time, concluding the color-changing history is consistent with different times; This part will also analyze the influences of folk art colors on Chinese figure painting, then to find the shortcoming in using folk art color resources with greater depth and dimension. And finally to conclude that the folk art color's great influence on the explorative and extending development of contemporary Chinese figure painting.The 2nd part focuses on the lessons we can get from the folk art colors'effects on contemporary Chinese figure painting. The analysis is based on contemporary painters'using folk art colors, which is used to explore the practicability and significance of contemporary Chinese figure painting through borrowing some elements from folk art colors. Finally instructive application methods are explored from different view and levels.The 3rd part focuses on the value and significance of folk art colors'influence on Chinese figure painting. All of the above is based on the analyses and discussions in the former two parts. Distinctive features of folk art colors are generalized. These features are colorful and regional. In order to meet different drawing styles in different regions and to meet different personal requirements in different times, the folk art colors provide us abundant resources to explore and to extend. Finally, I will use my own painting as an example to demonstrate the practical significance and explorative value of the folk art color resources, which has great influence on the development of Chinese figure painting.Through the analyses and the generalization of the development of Chinese paintings, especially Chinese figure paintings, the paper tries to find the general rules of Chinese figure painting in its color-changing process. Then these rules will be used to explore the color application in the contemporary paintings. Through analyzing the present development of the color language in the contemporary Chinese figure paintings, the paper tries to find the vast explorative space which can be in the folk the vast explorative space which can be in the folk art colors. This paper not only realize the significant lessons and experience in the folk art colors which can be applied in the creation of contemporary Chinese paintings, it also realizes these lessons'practicability demonstrated by representative painters'works in different regions.
