This paper is constituted by the introduction, conclusion, and four chapters of themain components, mainly re-examined the literature of the 1980s by the perspectiveof adolescent discourse, and revealed the complicated relationship of this adolescentdiscourse and the pursuit of modernity. This paper roundly and profoundly analysisedthe adolescence, on this basis, it formed a unique understanding about centurybusiness of modernity.In view of what the adolescent discourse is a new concept, this paper devotedmuch attention to the use method of some specific concepts, and illustrated the needto introduce new concepts by clearing some common concepts, it is the equal ofresearch summary in this field. The first chapter is the review of the adolescentdiscourse in the 20th century China. From the late Qing Dynasty intellectuals haveregarded the adolescence as a driving force for the pursuit of modernity, and thenbuilding the first adolescent discourse that created two themes of modernity in 20thcentury. But because of the two sides of the adolescence, led to the conflict of twomajor themes of modernity that became the source of a series of disasters. Adolescentdiscourse of literature in the 1980s is the extend of previous adolescent discourse inthe field of literature. In the face of painful facts the adolescent discourse of the1980s'literature formed a unique character of reflection and rejection.From Chapter II to Chapter IV, this paper concretely analyzed the adolescentdiscourse of literature in the 1980s by three stages. In the early 1980s, the returnedwriters and the educated youth writers respectively developed two different kinds ofliterature adolescent discourse that on behalf of two completely different design ofmodernity business. The intervention from national power discourse led to the depressof the literature adolescent discourse in the early 1980s. About in 1984 , with theemergence of a large number of young writers, the early literature adolescentdiscourse is replaced by a new literature adolescent discourse that contain morepersonalized colour. Rebellion and find are its two main themes, and actually it is adesign for the modernity. But with no result of"On the road"the literature adolescent discourse in the mid-1980s began to depression. So that literature adolescentdiscourse in the 1980s went into its final phase. From around 1987, the literatureadolescent discourse from prosperity to decline. Some of the pioneering experiment ofthe literature adolescent discourse in the mid-1980s gave up the ideal of modernizinghuman and the confidence to judge the value. And"On the road"in the mid-1980sthat represents the highest level of the literature adolescent discourse now also facinga comprehensive defeat. The political turmoil of 1989 represents that the literatureadolescent discourse in the 1980s drop to the bottom. In the exhaustion and frustration,the field of culture and thought painfully began to reflect by themselves. In this case,conscious reflection to the adolescence finally come true.The conclusion of this paper briefly introduced the status of adolescent discoursethat since the 1990s. The reflection to the adolescence didn't continue, that actually isa hidden danger of our ongoing modernity business. And so, this paper is practicallymeaningful.
