The Paradox Between Modernity And Anti-modernity

Urban imagination in the"17 years"Chinese literature is a weak point in the study of urban literature. For a long time, researchers either didn't acknowledge the existence of urban literature during the"17 years", of which they took no notice, or they just regarded it as the negative writing of urban literature to serve as a foil to the prosperity of urban literature in the 90s. This paper insists on the dynamic concept of literary history, that is, the concept of literature is that of times. The"17 years"urban literature will be illustrated by means of modernity theory on the basis of the general understanding of modern and contemporary literature.In the first chapter, the characteristics of radical modernity concerning"17 years"urban literature will be discussed from the following three aspects: firstly, the radical writing of left-wing literature as a traditional inheritance; secondly, the imagination of real urban life during"17 years"Chinese literature; thirdly, the memory of urban history, which bears homogeneous attributes with the imagination about reality. The common modernity characteristic implied in the texts, namely, the thinking logic of dualism conflict and the deep anxiety for being perfect, will be explored through the reading of urban texts.In the second chapter, the anti-modernity of"17 years"literature will be illustrated from the following four aspects: firstly, the bourgeois imagination of material desire and the pursuit of individual value; secondly, the admonition and instruction to affection; thirdly, the temporal and spatial disappearance of individual privacy in urban imagination; fourthly, The demonstration of modernity worldly living desire between the lines, which met people's esthetic demand from another perspective. In the third chapter, the causes of the conflict between modernity and anti-modernity concerning"17 years"literature will be illustrated. From the perspective of cultural environment and the transformation of contemporary literature system, the constraints of modern rational spirit to the theme of urban literature and the admonish on the level of micro-narration will be explored , moreover, the state of"17 years"urban literature will be sourced archaeologically. In the part of conclusion, the significance of urban imagination concerning"17 years"literature will be discussed, compared roughly with urban literature in the 90s.
