Christianity is the spiritual core of Western civilization, which has penetrated in the Western politic, economy, ideology, culture , and even every field of west,especially has a significant impact on literature . Herman.Hesse is a famous Swiss German writer, he had grown up under the influnce of family atmosphere and with deep religious feelings, he is a writer who can not be separated from religion even one day,and also full of enthusiasm of many different culture. Hinduism, Christianity and Chinese culture are the main source of his thought, in which forming his transcendent religious thought. But in the domestic research on the analysis of Hesse and his writings, has neglected the influnce of his religious thought, especially the Christianity. Therefore, this article focus on the relationship between religion and literature ,in order to discussing the impact of Hesse's transcendent religious thought on his literary creation.The first part proposed the value and significance of this thesis on the basis of summary of research on Hesse and his works .Part two outlines Hesse's transcendent religious thought and its causes, the transcendence can be interpreted from the outside which means transcended the Christianity, borders and culture, and also means to pursue perfection and beyond of the spirit constantly from the internal explain . The formation of the thought is result from the intrinsic qualities of Hesse, the backgroud of collision between Eastern and Western civilizations in the 20th century and the atmosphare of family .The third part discussed the different influnce of Hinduism, Christianity and Chinese culture (mainly Taoism),which were three sources of Hesse's thought and focus on Christianity. Among them, the Hinduism inspired to the way of seek self , the romantic feelings and the transcendent spirit in Hesse's works. The Christianity as the root of Hesse's spiritual beliefs, has given some spiritual power and comfort to him when he sink into acrisis, and helps him to found a multi-level way of salvation with the core of love and faith , which can guide the modern soul who deep into despair to seek self-rescue from time,love and death . The Chinese Taoism has an important impact on his thought of polar opposites and the sinking spirit of pursuit temperament cooperation on the Taoism.The fourth part of the thesis from the commonality of Hesse's religious thought , discusses the aesthetic reflection of Hesse's religious thought core ideas in his works . Hesse's thought as the core of love and faith, and has some changes result from the merge of religious culture and the religious tradition in Germany ,his works guide as the thought of"three stages" ,and has two structures mode which are " despair—death (regression) mode" and "despair—beyond (Awakening) mode", leading to the modern man to seek spiritual transcendence and return to faith, the unceasing pursuit for spiritual home and always " on the way " in his works form a spiritual paradox, and reflects the plight of modern life and tragic times. Finally, the conclusion of the thesis dicusses the significance of Hesse's transcendent religious thought in the contemporary society.
