The imperial civil examination is used by Ming Dynasty to selectgovernment officials.Everyone who takes the examination need to writethe eight-part essay.The eight-part essay is utilitarian and it isinfluenced by politics.But it's also a kind of literary form that iscontrolled by literary discipline certainly.There are many studies of theeight-part essay at the present time.And most of them are about thepolitical character of the eight-part essay.While it's not the focus of mypaper.This paper has its own background——Ming Dynasty Literarytrend.The paper researches the development of the eight-part essaybasing on this background.The focal point of my study is the literinessthe eight-part essay.For choose this backgroud,there are twopurposes.First,study the literatary value of the eight-part essay can helpexpanding the filed of the eight-part essay research.Second,it can helpunderstanding the development of Ming Dynasty literature much better because the eight-part essay is also a part of the literature.In this paper,there are different categories of literatarycompositions,and I place great emphasis on these compositions whichare very active in four rough stages:the prior period of Ming,the middleand later periods of Ming,the advanced stage of Ming and the final ofthe Ming. Also there are four main points I will study on.First is thedifferent literatary features of the eight-part essay which in differentperiods.Second is the relationship between the eight-part essay andother literary forms.Third is the reason why scholars want to transformthe eight-part essay and the way they transform it by.Fourth is variousunderstandings about the eight-part essay's spirit.In this paperconsider about the literature,politics,economy,academia and otherfacators of Ming,then study the eight-part essay's effect and its status inthe whole Ming Dynasty literary trend.
