Current Events Communique was one of the privately owned newspapers published in Ningbo in the period of the Republic of China. It was first issued on June 1, 1920 and sealed by the government on October 24, 1948, experienced nearly thirty years of ups and downs. It provided a lot of mental nourishment for people in Ningbo. Owing to colorful content, the overall layout and covering a wide range of areas, it has become the largest in circulation and the most influential newspaper in Ningbo.This thesis develops closely centering on Current Events Communique and consists six parts: The first part is the summary which introduces the birth of social background, development course, and its layout setup. In the second part, it analyzes its news contents and features. In the third, it studies the comments to find the regularities. The fourth part is about the advertising. It reveals the features of advertising from analysis of the price formulation, contents of the advertising and the compilation mode. The fifth part is the study of supplement. Supplement of Current Events Communique has 20 kinds with distinguishing feature each ,and the increase of memorial publication and other supplement make the Paper's content extremely rich and colorful. The sixth part describes the editing philosophy, its layout characteristics in this concept and Ningbo's leisure life, culture and municipal construction. Finally, the last part summarizes the tenet and its limitations.In order to increase the people of knowledge and understanding of the newspaper, the author analysis of emergence, prosperity and extinction of this newspaper. The author make the content of the newspaper clear and concise,we discovered layout characteristics through the analysis of its contents nearly thirty years. At the same time, the author tries to know this newspaper in the period of the Republic of China, reduction a life maps about Ningbo people.
