The Research Of Huang Shen's Printmaking

Huang Shen was a great painter of"the Eight Eccentric Painters of Yangzhou"in Qing dynasty. "Eccentric" was mainly refers to the painting style was different from those orthodox painters at that time, the rulers boosted authentic, or treated eccentric painters as weird, and conservative people always being shocked by those they had never seen or fresh things. Now, time changes, people already see more and less inquisitive, or never being shocked. In this essay, we will discuss"the Eight Eccentric Painters of Yangzhou", someone thought that Huang Shen's paintings are"not in good taste". The previous aesthetic idea inevitably has era and class prejudice, and now, with such a general, abstract, and less analytical expression to evaluate Huang Shen'artistic achievement is not a good way for us to study painting history. Thus, in my opinion, as long as we are not superficial, or see his paintings roughly; as long as we study the social situation in the early eighteenth century and Huang Shen's artistic life, his artistic accomplishment and painting style systematically and generally, we will find his artistic characteristics.In this essay, I will study Huang Shen's painting arts from five parts. The second part in the essay, I will made an exposition from artistic style, subjects and implication. Based on the age which Huang Shen lived, and through the complicated process of Huang Shen's artistic reform, and moreover, his different styles in different times on the style, subject and implication of his paintings. And compare with the other painters of"the Eight Eccentric Painters"to indicate Huang Shen's painting style, using his cursive writing in his painting and his painting style in his writing.
