| The educational reform in China is just unfolding, the target of which is to transform the test-oriented system to a quality-oriented system. The reform of assessment can be crucial to the educational reform. This thesis only deals with the reform of assessment in ELT class. Compared with the reform in assessment in ELT abroad, the assessment practice in college ELT in China is comparatively limited to the traditional testing. The lack of various quality assessment activities in college ELT class has a long tradition. The Chinese learners have acceptability to a more open and more informal assessment system. It is time that we teachers introduced a new concept of assessment into ELT class and led it to a significant result. According to the research project in my college writing class, my conclusion is that the total acquisition of (continuous) assessment is recommendable in ELT classroom. Chapter I lays the conceptual basis of educational assessment. Chapter II analyzes the backwash of test to ELT classroom, Chapter III introduces continuous assessment. Chapter IV deals with continuous assessment design. Chapter V is a continuous assessment project in college writing class. Chapter VI serves as a conclusion. |
