Gambling is the most important industry in Macao as it is the main source of Macao抯 tax income. More than 10% of Macao抯 total population depend their lives on the gambling industry. This essay describes the gambling language, which is divided into two parts: a) The open and popular gambling language It influences a lot to the society of Hong Kong and Macao, actually there are quite plenty of them have altered as the general words, they have enriched the words of the society of Hong Kong and Macao; b) The hidden and mysterious gambling language It is kept hidden by the gambling work force, besides, it is a very complicate language, it needs a special phonetic method to pronounce the words, and thus only the gambling workers could use this mysterious language. In order to study the gambling language, this essay has applied the methods of investigations and interviews as well as the inductive analysis method to regulate and describe all the materials obtained. This essay explains all the enumerating words and some of them are supported by example sentences. This essay also analyzes the enunciation and the signification of the words.
