The history of the creation of modern Chinese specialized music is in fact a cultural pro-cess of Chinese composers creation and development of Chinese national music on the basisof continuous absorption of Western composing technique. This process reveals the close rela-tionship between the development of Chinese musical creation with the absorption of polypho-ny theory and technique in western music and the development of polyphony thought.Qu Xixian is a famous female composer in China. Her composing career spans morethan half a century. During this period she has composed and rearranged a large number ofmoving and widely loved chorus songs. This thesis takes her works as subject, analyzes, clas-sifies, compares and concludes the application of contrast polyphony, mimicry polyphony andheterophony in Qu's chorus songs.This thesis points out that in Qu's works, polyphony thought for structural organizationand thematic presentation, the application of polyphony technique for the molding of musicalfigures and the expression of emotions, all have active and favorable artistic effect. They havebecome important parts in Qu's musical style. Meanwhile, polyphony technique in QU' sworks has not only used the rich polyphony skills in the works of European classic musicalmasters but also inherited the multi - voice principle in Chinese folk music. In her musicalpractice, Qu adheres to using Western technique in the creation of Chinese music. She effec-tively combines Chinese melody thought with Western polyphony technique, thus achievingthe unification of content and form and establishing her unique musical style of Chinese char-acteristics.Qu's musical creation provides valuable experiences for the creation of modern Chinesespecialized music and the theoretic construction of Chinese composing technique. That is hergreat contribution.
