The Intergration Of Time And Nationality Spirits:Basic Tendency Of Chinese New Poetry

China is a country full of poetry with outstanding poets of each period and large reader groups. Since the middle and late 1980s Chinese poetry has been in a dilemma. On one hand ,people paid little attention to poetry being centered by the economic reform. But more important, it was due to reckless overturn and destroying of hazy poetry caused by post-new poetry. They opposed tradition, order, emotions, culture, morality and poetry... They made poetry return to the things n hemselves of life and be more close to the pure poetry itself. Nevertheless, all the things they have done made the poetry far away from the period of their life and the masses. Also, they departed from the traditional esthetic standard arid the traditional and cultural morality. And they placed the poetry under the unoriginal disorder condition and estranged the readers who have hold the fervent expectation .At the same time ,the readers stood off the poetry ruthlessly. No matter in ancient or modern time, in China or other foreign countries the countless literary phenomena and instances showed that the character of era and the feature of nationality were the basic stand of poetry ,neither could we be tendentious or repeal. The character of era requested that the poets should go deep into the social life ,grasp the precarious situation of the periods ,concem the social development and reflect the masses? common feeling~ expectation~ ideal and appeal , and create the works which could stand the historical test. The feature of nationality demand that the poets should respect the taste and cultural tradition of their own nations and compose the poetry which could conform to their own nations?taste, culture and appreciative interests ,blend harmoniously wish other nation's appreciate experience and be accepted by their own nations. The poetry ,only belonging to the nation ,could be part pf the world and be part pf history .Meanwhile, the history is developing ;the nation is procession: and the sense is renewing. Without the character of an era, we couldn't understand the feature of a nationality ;Without the feature of a nationality ,the character of an era also had no way to depend .Only the character of an era and the feature combined closely and compensated for each other ,the Chinese poetry would step on the sound developing way. In 1990s ,the poetry were beginning to concern the social life ,returning to the traditional esthetic standard and cultural sediment .All of these made the poetry appear vital and hopeful with the first light of the new century.
