Xu Shidong is an important poet in the poetry circle of the Qing Dynasty,whose poetry theory and poetry creation had extremey special significance in the poetry circle at that time.As a famous book collector,a local chronicler and a historian in Ningbo,Xu Shidong’s poetry reputation was covered up by his other contrubutions,so the special research on his poetry in the academic circle is almost blank at present.This paper analyzes Xu Shidong’s poetry theory,poetry content and poetry artistic characteristics through severy methods,such as text reading.literature research,mutual evidence between literature and history and literature textual research.In addition to the introductiong,the paper is divided into four parts,as follows:The first chapter makes a textual research and anlysis on Xu Shidong’s family-background,life-experience and friendships,in order to have an overall understanding of Xu Shidong.The second chaper make an anlysis on Xu Shidong’s poetry through his own poetry,articles and other people’s comments on his poetry,in order to summarize Xu Shidong’s poetry ideas.Through Xu Shidong’s poetry,We can find that Xu Shidong opposites to the schools of spirit and charm,emphasizes the patriarchal Han and Wei dynasties and advocates the poetic thought of"erudite".On this basis,it classifies and discusses the content of Xu Shidong’s poetry,in order to make a more detailed exploration of Xu Shidong’s poetic thought and the ideological content of poetry.The third chapter,combined with Xu Shidong’s poetry creation practice,divides his poetry into ancient poetry and modern poetry.Among them,ancient poetry can be divided into Yuefu Poetry,seven ancient poetry and five ancient poetry,while modern poetry can be divided into five laws,seven laws and quatrains.This chapter studies the artistic characteristics of Xu Shidong’s poetry according to the poetry genre,and discusses the artistic characteristics of Xu Shidong’s "all styles are avaliable ".The fourth chapter,in the form of case study,takes grasshopper and post grasshopper as an example,and makes a comprehensive study of the beginning and end of all kinds of pirates from Guangdong and other regions in Ningbo after the Opium War through the methods of textual research,discussion and comparison,so as to highlight the distinctive characteristics of Xu Shidong’s narrative poems.
