From the angle of philosophy and press communication, the thesis firstdefines the subject consciousness and its close relations with the masscommunicative activities, illustrating with the positive and negativeexamp1es from China's press history. The following part is contributed tothe subject consciousness' kernel position and its specific function in pressphotography. Then after emphatically analyzing the concrete applicationof the subject consciousness to the press photography, the author putsforward the six aspects of forming the independent subject consciousness,devoting the sense of responsibility and mission, giving play to thereporter's subjective initiative, strengthening the self-observing,emphasizing the enterprising spirit and valuing humanistic thought, anddiscusses their concrete application to the press photography respectively.In the end, the enhancement of the press photographer's subjectconsciousness is discussed.By qualitative analysis and exemplification, the thesis illustrates thesignificance of the recovery of subject consciousness to the pressphotography and ana1yzes in detail the six concrete aspects of subjectconsciousness applied in press photography. In addition to that, the fivekey points of enhancing the subject consciousness are proposed. Thethesis is purposed to arouse the contemporary press photographer's greatattention to subject consciousness and supplement this link in the practiceand research of press photography, which is the core but weak for a longtime so that the urgent need of the reality can be met.
