Yinshi(phonetic notation) is a very important source of materials in examining Chinese phonology . Therefore, one of important questions for study in phonology is to adopt the materials of yinshi to study and define dynastic phonetic system. As the overall collection of Taoistic canon, Dao Zang is characterized with abundant and heterogeneous contents. Having been the treasure-house in developing traditional Chinese culture, it bears important values in many academic circles. For instance, in philosophy, history, literature, arts, chemistry, metallurgy, medecine, physiology, the science of preserving one's health, qigong, astronomy, and so on. This thesis adopts Chen Jingyuan's Shang Qing Da Dong Then Jing Yu Jue Yin Yi (hereafter referred to as Chen's Yin Yi) as its object, and it studies Chen's Yin Yi by means of laying emphasis on the features of phonetic notation combined with the critical interpretation of ancient texts in order to comprehensively discover Dao Zang's value in the science of writing.Researches have found out that the stylistic rules and layout of the phonetic notation in Chen's Yin Yi are mostly inheri ted those of Lu Deming and Yan Shigu. The phonetic notations in Yin Yi are mostly adopted according to Guang Yun, which is in conformity with common practices of noters in Song Dynasty . And it is a Kind of "wen ren du shu yin" , which is based on Qie Yun, though it is inherited from the stylistic rules of the Six Dynasties which adopted a number of zhiyin and followed the initial reformation of Fanqie in Ji Yun, and it mostly selects Chinese characters to form Fanqie in the convenient prospective of Pingqie. The phonetic notations of Chen's Yin Yi has distinctive traditional characteristics in the history of notation.Chinese characters of rarity in ancient and modern times are cellected in Chen's Yin Yi. Some of phonetic notations are of referential value to the differentiation and demonstration of tongjia characters, tongyuan characters, ancient-and-modern characters, revising and compiling books. A special reference is that dozens of phonetic notation materials in Chen's Yin Yi were cited from Shi Congxuan's Yi Qie DaoJing Yin Yi (hereafter referred to as Shi's Yin Yi) in the Tang Dynasty. This thesis texually researches into the creation and loss of Shi's Yin Yi, and it examines the materials cited by Chen's Yin Yi in characters, exegesis and phonology. We found out that Chen's Yin Yi is directly influenced by Shi's phonetic notations in the stylistic rules and layouts. The choice of sounds and the determination of fanqie are based on Que Yun ("Wang San"),3nd Shi's "xieyun" betrays some early features of xieyun. The materials cited in Shi's Yin Yi by Chen are very limited. Since it is unique, therefore people can realize the overall collection of Taoistic yinyi canon, the unique contemporaneous rival of Huilin's Yi Qie Jing Yin Yi, which has also fallen into oblivion for hundreds of years. Chen Jingyuan's preservation can not be neglected. There are several breakthroughs in this thesis. First, it thoroughly and profoundly delves into the materials of yinshi, and it systematically researches into the yinshi of Dao Zang for the first time.Especially it discovers the materials of yinshi in Shi's Yin Yi. Second, it enlarges the scientific circle in yinshi. In phonology, this thesis adopts the features of phonetic notation as its main clue and does some useful research, for example, the selection of characters for fanqie in Chen's Yin Yi is centered on "yinhe", and it stresses the conformity of qieshangzi and qiexiazi in denglie and hongxie. Besides, this thesis also puts out some detailed creative viewpoints in writing, phonology and exegesis, for instance, "it" for "&", "U" also means'4^", the essence of Shi Congxuan's xieyun, and so on.
