It was a conspicuous phenomenon in the history of the Chinese female literature that most of the noted female poets in the Tang dynasty were female Daoist. However less attention has been paid on it. In view of this, this article attempts to approach a study on the character and the value of the poems written by female Daoist with historical background influenced by the Daoism greatly.The whole article conclude foreword, main body that are divided into three parts and conclusion.In part I, from the view of social status and educational background, the thesis made an extensive study of the special life style of the female Daoist poets and how it exert an influence on their writing. All these serve well to provide social and cultural background for the research of part II and III.Part II analysis the traditional characters and the special styles and features of the poems written by the female Daoist through subject choosing, art of expression and aesthetic style. Among these, the special style attaches the importance to this chapter. And it was displayed in the following aspects: the writing subjects were transformed from boudoir to society. They have made a breakthrough on the art of expression. Some great works, which opened their heart, showed their feeling freely and expressed their hatred and their affection frankly, come into being. And also the aesthetic styles have been diversified.Part III mainly comment the female consciousness implied in the poems written by these female Daoist.The conclusion part made a comparison between the female Daoist poets and other female poets in the long Chinese literary history to prove the great value of their poems.
