The Codification of Ce FuYuan Gui and the Value and Historical Material Resource of Tang Part in ItMa Weibin Abstract : Ce fu yuan gui. The historical book which was codified byWang Qinruo under the order of the king ,also as the congest one of Bei Song dynasty , has recorded the action of predencent kings and subjects . Almost half of its total chapters of one thousand were covered with records about Tang dynasty's history. It is from of the most abundant information about that period we can deal with today. But for a long time it has been neglected in the research. It's reference and attention is not so often as the contemporary other history books like Liang tang shu and Zi zhi tongjian which didn't match its abundance and splender. The major reason for this is that we usually hold a conventional view of it, regarding the records at the different dynasties in it without discrimination, and underestimate its historical value .Therefore , the thesis made a careful analysis and study of the conditions under which the book was codified , hoping to find it relation with the Bei Song dynasty's politic and investigate the historical resources and historical value of Tang part in it .After these work we can know the importance of it and make most use of it.In the second year of Bei Song Jing de , like the precedent, his father , the king ordered the Ce fu yuan gui to be codified . This action didn't indicate the policy of " you wen " (In which the culture is regarded more important by government in Song dynasty than in others). This has a political background .On the one hand, the book was codified to enforce the "balance police " under the pressure of political conditions in that period. On the other hand, the " balance police "had a good effect on the culture objectively, which has made the culture of that period on the top of development.The Tang part of it has rendered the whole book a valuable significance in the historical research .The historical resource was derived from the various official annals and some leshu at hand in that time which include Shi In, Guo sh, Jiu tang shu, Tang hui yao , Tai ping yu Ian , and so on .At the same time , little note stories was cited in it.The historical material preserved in Ce fu yuan gui, is very large in quantity.this perhaps was ordinary to people who lived in Bei Song dynasty ,but to the research of the history of Tang dynasty today , it has a important and valuable reference .First, it recorded a lot of honest information which has not been rewritten. This help us further knew about the Tang's Shi lu and guo shi. Second, it can compensate the imperfection of Hang tang shu and others. Third, it can explain some contradiction in the Hang tang shu and find the dishonest records in it.In a word the diversity of the historical resource of Tang part had a disreplacable importance in the research of the history of Tang dynasty and we should make better potential use of Ce fu yuan gui.
