The dialogue in the fiction is multifunctional and can be regarded as the most memorable part in the fiction. Its translation is worthy of great attention, but there are few studies in this field. This paper puts forward the pragmatic approach to dialogue translation, generally speaking, to make maximal application of context and the cooperative principle in the understanding phase, and to faithfully reproduce the intended force. The whole paper mainly presents the application and significance of such an approach by discussing the significance of each constituent of the context for the fictional dialogue, illustrating the way to use the cooperative principle in interpretation and its contribution to better interpretation and translation and offering basic principle and common crafts to faithfully reproduce the intended force. These discussions offer us a clearer view of what the pragmatic approach concretely appears, and meanwhile, give us a deeper insight into the benefits this approach will bring to us.Though it is not realistic to adopt this approach as the absolute way to solve all problems in the rendering, this approach has its unique place in the dialogue translation to help to achieve equivalence.
