About the literary consciousness, Mr. Lu Xun pointed out that Cao Pi's times was the times of the literary consciousness in 1927. From then to 1980s, it was a very popular viewpoint in the academic circles in our country. The viewpoint has been challenged in the recent two decades. A lot of scholars brought forward that the literature had been in the conscious state in the Han Dynasty. Are their new viewpoints correct? On the basis of Mr. Lu Xun's viewpoint, the paper studies these scholar's viewpoints, sums up and comments on several so-called the phenomena (or factors) of the literary consciousness in the Han Dynasty. The paper, as a whole, can be divided into five parts:Part me An analysis if the concept of the literary consciousness. The partexplains the origin and development of the concept of the literary consciousness, the relationship of three concepts ?the consciousness, the literary consciousness and the human's consciousness. Through careful analysis, we could find out that there were a few of the factors of the literary consciousness in the Han Dynasty. How to understand these factors? After making further investigation, I think that these factors of the literary consciousness are lopsided, isolated and scattered. However, we can't belittle the important function of the factors in the Han Dynasty because these factors are the base of the literary consciousness in the Wei and Jin Dynasties.Part two The knowledge of the literary idea In the Han Dynasty. The peoplefound that the connotation of the literary works, for example, The Book of Songs, Chuci, etc. were not alike that of the learning works though they hold that the literature is the same as the learning in the Han Dynasty. To make a distinction between the literary works and the learning works, the people used the word "article" to represent the literary works. In addition, the historians began to writebiographies for a lot of writers who are good at writing articles or essays .. .Through the analysis of these phenomena, we could make out that the people had the consciousness to distinguish literature from history, politics and philosophy in the Han Dynasty. This kind of phenomenon shows that, to a certain extent, the literary idea had the consciousness in the Han Dynasty.Pan three Tho knowledge ef the literary form in the Han Dynasty. Comparedwith other branches of learning, the literature has the characteristics of its own in terms of the form. The people realized it hi the Han Dynasty. From the point of the literary form, the part observes and studies the people's knowledge in the Han Dynasty: (1) The flowery language of the literary works; (2) The development of the literary types; (3) The utilizing of the various literary techniques of expression.Part few The knowledge if the literary creation In the Han Dynasty, scholarshad a certain understanding of the reason on the occurring of the literary creation and the process of the literary creation during their literary practice in the Han Dynasty. In addition, they brought forth the theories of GAN WU and FU XIN about the literary creation. On the basis of the two theories, scholars exploited and extracted a lot of new literary subjects, such as: mountains, rivers, articles about everyday life, etc. These new literary subjects laid a solid foundation for the further development of the literary subject in the Wei and Jin Dynasties.Part five The knowledge of the literary emotion in the Han Dynasty. Theliterary emotion is the essential characteristic of the literary works. Scholars realized it from Qu Yuan's declaration-"FA FEN YI SHU QING"(expressing one's resentful feelings) in the Han Dynasty. Many persons, for example, Si Ma-qian, Yang Xiong, Ban Gu and Wang Yi, agreed with Qu Yuan's judgment completely or partially. In addition, The Preface of Mao Poetry, Liu An, Liu Xiang and Yan Ji, etc. had ever talked about and affirmed this characteristic. In the Han Dynasty, Scholars not only affirmed the emotional characteristic of the literature in theor...
