This thesis is a study on the "chu" structure, which usually refers to the sentences in which "chu" phrase serves as the adverbial. This sentence pattern can generally be divided into two parts - "chu" phrase A and "non-chu" phrase B. Basing on the former research, this thesis focuses on an overall survey and description on the quality and basic patterns of preclusive item and it makes a new exploration on the recognition of the semantic types. Moreover, it makes an attempt research on the linguistic context of the "chu" structure. This research supplies more formal rules for the understanding of linguistic form and semantics. This thesis consists of three parts:1. Preclusive types and corresponding linguistic form. According to the syntactic and semantic quality of preclusive term, this thesis divides the preclusive types of the "chu" structure into three basic types: subject preclusion, predicate preclusion and subject-predicate preclusion. It also makes research into linguistic form, semantic expression and corresponding relation in each type. The research shows that the "chu" sentences of subject preclusion and object preclusion are both additional sentences, this feature supplies a new way for the recognition of "no-sign words" additional sentences.2. The recognition and determination of the semantic types. In the respect of recognition of semantic type of the "chu" structure, this thesis induces two determination methods: logic determination and sign words. Basing on it, the thesis explores the transformation rule of the successive use of the sign wors:Pronoun of showing the meaning of "all'Vpronoun of question (preclusive relation)>adverb-"ye"(additional relation)>negative form (preclusive relation)>adverb "hai"(additional relation)>adverb of showing the general meaning (preclusive relation)>pronoun of showing the meaning of "preclusion"(additional relation)3. The outside syntactic and semantic context. The initial exploration showsthat the main types of the linguistic context of the "chu" structure include the cause and effect, general description and explanation, condition-purpose, purpose-condition. The "chu" structure can act as the clause of reason, clause of explanation, clause of condition, and so on. Apart from it, the "chu" sentence can also act as the syntactic component of the simple sentence: subject, predicate, object. In short, through careful description of semantic form, this thesis supplies more formal signs for the semantic recognition, so that it can help the computer to understand the "chu" sentence accurately. It is hoped that through the research, more and more people will pay attention to the complicated linguistic form and semantic correspondence of the "chu" structure.
