This thesis intends to sort out the tendency and the characteristics of the "Individualized female novels" in 1990s, which was based on the social political background and discourse background. It sums up the social background behind the composing phenomena and explores the practical significances of, and the existing restrictions on composing.This thesis includes five parts: Part One illustrates the development and evolutional process of the "individualized female novels" in 1990s, which underwent three phases: the first phase: from the late 1980s to 1994, the representative writers of Chen Ran, Lin Bai, Xu Xiaobin and Hai Nan showed a tendency of individualization, subjectivity and self-referring in the contents and the narration angle of the novels; the second phase: from 1994 to 1998, the individualized female novels undergone a process from hot debate to recognition; the third phase: since 1998, the individualized female novel has been developing towards the tendency of the description of privacy.Part Two analyzes the narration arts and its functions of figure of speech from the angle of narration. This paper examines them in the various narration space of 1990s, in the employment of narration visual angle, most texts employed "the first person" narration mainly, the overlapped introspective angles of the narrator, protagonist and writer, and analyzes and demonstrates these texts.Party Three analyzes another unique aspectofthe "individualized female novel" from the cultural angle, expatiates the ideological connotation of social culture that it contained. Under the cultural background of Chinese female writing, this thesis discusses the spontaneous sex awareness expressed through the unique female living and "body writing' " and constructive attitude of the establishment the female poetics in the "individualized female novel" .Part Four expatiates the significances in the establishment of individual discourse system from the way of speech of the"individualized female novels" . It is demonstrated mainly from four aspects: the criticism of discourse; the establishment of language Utopia (against with traditional aesthetic feminized naming, text naming; the narration way between novel and poem; tendency of poem); individual experiences and self-referring discourse; the covert expression through the monologue whisper.Part Five gives a brief account of the cultural significances of, and limitations on the "individualized female novels" in 1990s.
